I built Neon Tetris as a love letter to the falling-block puzzle that never gets old, then packed it with the modern touches serious stackers expect: a true 7-bag piece randomizer, a wall-kick rotation system, a ghost-piece landing preview, a hold slot, and a three-piece next queue — all on a neon board that flares with every line you clear. Six modes and five escalating visual chapters keep it interesting long after the first Tetris.

The board is the standard ten columns wide and twenty rows tall. Seven tetromino shapes — I, O, T, S, Z, J, and L — fall from the top one at a time, and your job is to slide and rotate each one so it fills a horizontal row all the way across. Complete a row and it clears, dropping everything above it down and buying you room to keep going. Let the stack pile up to the ceiling and it's game over (unless you're in Zen).
Move with the arrow keys and rotate with the up arrow or X (Z spins the other way). The wall-kick system nudges a piece sideways or up when a straight rotation would clip the wall or the stack, so rotations that look blocked often still fit. The ghost piece shows the landing spot in advance, and a hard drop with Space slams the piece straight down and locks it immediately. There's a brief lock delay when a piece touches down — sliding or rotating it resets that timer up to fifteen times, which is the window you use to tuck pieces under overhangs.
The hold slot is your safety valve. Press C or Shift to park the current piece and swap in whatever you held before; you get one hold per piece, and the slot greys out until the next piece locks so you can't cheese it. Combine that with the three upcoming pieces shown in the next queue and you can plan several moves ahead instead of reacting one block at a time.
The endless marathon. You level up every ten lines cleared, gravity gets faster at each step, and the run tops out at level 20 across all five chapters.
Clear 40 lines as fast as you can. The timer runs to the hundredth of a second, and your best Sprint time is saved separately from your score.
A three-minute score attack. Chain combos, T-spins, and Tetrises before the clock runs out — it turns red in the final thirty seconds.
No game over and no level progression. If you top out, the top rows are cleared and you keep flowing. Pure practice with zero pressure.
A seeded challenge that hands every player the exact same piece sequence for that date. You get one attempt per day, and your result is stored until tomorrow.
A four-step guided run that walks a new player through moving, rotating, holding, and hard-dropping before it hands you back to the menu.
Line clears pay on a curve: a single line is worth 100 base points, a double 300, a triple 500, and a four-line Tetris 800 — and every one of those values is scaled up by your current level, so the same clear pays far more deep into a run than it does at the start. Soft-dropping adds a point for each cell, and hard-dropping adds two per cell, which quietly compounds over a long game.
The real points live in the fancy clears. A T-Spin — rotating a T-piece into a slot where at least three of its corners are boxed in — pays several times what a flat clear of the same size would, and the game calls out T-Spin Single, Double, and Triple as you land them. Clearing lines on consecutive pieces builds a combo multiplier, and stringing together Tetrises and T-Spins keeps a back-to-back streak alive that tacks on a fifty-percent bonus. Wipe the board completely empty and you collect a hefty Perfect Clear bonus on top.
Because scoring leans so hard on level and on those special clears, the highest runs come from patience, not panic: build flat, keep a T-Spin notch or an I-piece well ready, and cash in big clears at high levels rather than nibbling single lines. Your best score is saved per mode on your device, and when you finish a run inside the site your score is reported back to GameplayZone.
Three visual themes are one tap apart on the mode screen. Neon is the default glow-heavy look; Retro dials in flatter arcade colors with a subtle scanline overlay; and Minimal softens everything for a calmer board. On top of those there's a Colorblind palette that swaps the seven piece colors for a higher-contrast set, and a Reduce FX toggle that strips the particles, screen shake, and flashes for a cleaner, lower-motion experience.
Audio is fully in your hands too. The soundtrack is a chiptune arrangement of Korobeiniki — the folk melody most people know as the classic Tetris theme — layered with a bass line and drums, and every action has its own synthesized sound effect. A single mute button silences music and effects together whenever you want to stack in silence. On phones you get on-screen buttons for hold, move, rotate, and drop, plus board gestures: tap to rotate, swipe left or right to move, and swipe down to hard drop.

It's a T-piece rotated into a pocket where at least three of the four cells around it are walled in. Pulling it off scores much more than a normal clear of the same number of lines, and it keeps your back-to-back bonus going alongside Tetrises.
In Classic mode you climb one level for every ten lines cleared, up to level 20. Those twenty levels are grouped into five themed chapters, and gravity speeds up at each step, so the top levels demand fast, deliberate placements.

Daily uses a fixed seed tied to the calendar date, so every player faces the identical piece order that day. You get a single attempt, and once you finish, the mode records your score and locks until the next day.
