RiddleVault is the riddle game I built for people who like the "aha" more than the grind. Every day the vault serves one fresh riddle, seeded to the calendar date so everyone in the world faces the exact same puzzle — read the clue, type your answer, and the vault clicks open. Cracking it feeds a daily streak and pays out KEYS you can spend on hints or a streak freeze. When one a day isn't enough, the full vault holds 60 hand-written riddles across seven categories to work through at your own pace. No timer, no signup, no download — just you and the clue.
The daily riddle is picked from the date itself, so the puzzle you get today is the exact one your friends get too. It makes the "did you solve it?" conversation actually work — you're comparing notes on one shared clue, not two random ones.
Solve the daily and your streak climbs by one. Miss a day and it drops back to one — unless you've stashed a streak freeze, which absorbs a single missed day so a busy week can't wipe out a long run.
A daily solve pays 25 KEYS, and I stack bonuses on top: +25 for solving with no hints and +25 for nailing it on your first guess, so a clean daily can bank 75 KEYS. Practice solves pay 5 each.
Every riddle carries a ladder of clues. The first hint is free; the second costs 10 KEYS and also reveals the answer's first letter. Stuck completely? "Give up" shows the answer and its fun fact — but pays nothing.
I didn't want a right answer rejected over one typo. The checker accepts a whole list of phrasings per riddle and tolerates a single wrong letter — type "envelop" and it tells you you're one character off instead of just "wrong".
After a solve you can copy a Wordle-style result card — guesses, hints used, and streak as emoji — with no answer in it. Drop it in a group chat to challenge friends without ruining the puzzle.
Open RiddleVault and you land on the vault hub. At the top, two chips track everything that matters: a flame counter for your current streak and a key counter for your KEYS balance. Tap Daily Riddle and the day's puzzle slides in — you'll see its category, a difficulty rating from one to three stars, and the clue itself in the center of the vault card.
Type your answer into the box and hit submit (or just press Enter). If you're right, the vault bursts into confetti, a short chime plays, and a solve screen reveals the answer, a genuine fun fact tied to it, and your KEYS payout. Miss, and the input shakes; the game quietly counts your attempts on a row of dots so you can see how many tries a puzzle took you. If a guess is only one letter off, it flags "so close — check your spelling" instead of a flat rejection, so honest typos never cost you the solve.
Cornered? The hint row gives one free clue up front. A second, sharper clue costs 10 KEYS and hands you the answer's opening letter as well. And if a riddle simply won't budge, "give up" reveals the answer with its fun fact — you learn the trick, you just don't score for it. Solve the daily and your streak ticks up; the game then asks (optionally) if you'd like to save that streak by email so it survives across devices. You can dismiss that and keep playing entirely anonymously.
One curated riddle per calendar day, chosen deterministically from the date so it's identical for every player worldwide. This is where the streak and the big KEYS bonuses live — 25 base, plus 25 for a hint-free solve and 25 for a first-guess solve. Once you've cracked today's, the vault tells you to come back tomorrow.
Practice mode with no streak pressure. It pulls riddles you haven't seen yet from the full library and pays 5 KEYS per solve, tracking how many you clear and how many KEYS you bank in the session. When you exhaust the pool, it reshuffles and starts you fresh.
Prefer to focus? Pick a theme and drill it. The seven categories are Nature (10 riddles), Animals & More (8), Wordplay (10), Logic (10), Math (7), Objects (8), and Science (7) — 60 riddles in total, each with three graded hints and a fun fact. Every category card shows how many you've already solved.
Twenty achievements track milestones like your first solve, a 30-day streak, ten no-hint solves, and clearing at least one riddle in every category — each unlock drops a 25-KEY bonus. The Vault Store spends KEYS on hint bundles (5 for 50, 20 for 150) and streak freezes (50 each) to guard your run.
Most RiddleVault puzzles are misdirection machines. The clue describes something vivid — a thing that flies without wings, a heart with no body — and your brain rushes to the literal picture. The answer is usually the metaphor, not the image. When you're stuck, stop asking "what is this?" and start asking "what else does this describe?" The riddle about a heart that never beats isn't about anatomy; it's about a playing card.
Watch for self-reference, too. A surprising number of the wordplay riddles are about the words in the question itself — the answer to "what becomes shorter when you add two letters?" is literally the word "short." When a clue feels impossible, reread it as a sentence to be picked apart rather than a scene to be pictured. The logic and math riddles lean the same way: many hinge on one sneaky phrase, like "all but nine" or "one is not a nickel," where the trap is grammatical, not mathematical.
On the daily specifically, treat your first guess as precious. Because a no-hint, first-try solve triples your payout, it's worth sitting with the clue for a minute before you type — the 15 seconds of thought is worth 50 extra KEYS. Bank those KEYS in easy Endless runs, then keep a couple of streak freezes in reserve so real life never breaks a streak you've worked weeks to build. And when a riddle finally beats you, use "give up" and read the fun fact — the answer you learn today is often the pattern that cracks a similar riddle next week.
Yes — every riddle, mode, and achievement is playable for free with no signup or download. KEYS are earned by solving; optional KEYS packs exist as a boost, but you never need to pay to keep playing.
Sixty hand-written riddles spread across seven categories, each rated one to three stars for difficulty and paired with a fun fact you unlock on solving.
No. Your streak, KEYS, and progress save locally in your browser automatically. Saving an email is entirely optional — it just lets your streak follow you across devices and sends a daily reminder.
Your streak resets to one on your next solve — unless you own a streak freeze, which absorbs a single missed day and keeps the chain alive. Freezes cost 50 KEYS in the Vault Store.
Yes. RiddleVault runs in any modern mobile or desktop browser and is built portrait-first, so tapping the box and typing your answer feels natural on a phone.
You're covered. Each riddle accepts several phrasings, and the checker forgives a single wrong letter — it'll tell you you're "so close" so a typo never costs you a hard-won solve.
